Volunteer
Lend a hand to your peers
KMWP is run by students, for students. If you are in high school and want to help the people around you feel more supported, there is a place for you here.
Ways to help
Find your role
Pick what fits you. Most volunteers try a couple of these as they go.
Speaker and assembly helper
Help present at school assemblies and education sessions, sharing what we know about awareness, anxiety, and looking out for one another.
Workshop volunteer
Set up and support our guided meditation and wellness workshops for students, parents, and educators.
Outreach and peer support
Help classmates find trustworthy resources and feel a little less alone, pointing people toward the right kind of help, not replacing it.
The time commitment
School comes first
We keep it school friendly. Most volunteers give a few hours a month, with a little more around an assembly or workshop. You set your pace, and schoolwork always comes first.
Who we look for
A few simple things
- You care about how your classmates are doing.
- You are reliable and follow through on what you sign up for.
- You are a good listener who keeps what people share private.
- You are open to training and to asking for help when something is over your head.
Peer supporters are not counselors
This is important, and we say it plainly: as a KMWP volunteer, you are a caring peer, not a therapist, counselor, or crisis responder. We will train you to listen, to share good resources, and to know when to bring in a trusted adult or professional. You will never be asked to handle a crisis alone, and you are always encouraged to ask for help when something feels like too much.

Tell us a bit about you. If you are under 18, we will confirm consent with your parent or guardian before any role that involves other students.
KMWP is not a crisis or emergency service. The Keystone Mental Wellness Project provides mental health education and peer support.
