What KMWP does and does not provide, and where to turn for medical, mental health, or crisis support.

Last updated: June 25, 2026

KMWP is not a crisis or emergency service. The Keystone Mental Wellness Project provides mental health education and peer support. We are not a substitute for professional medical or mental health care, and we do not provide emergency response, counseling, diagnosis, or treatment. If you or someone you know is in crisis or in immediate danger, call or text 988, text HOME to 741741, or call 911.

Education and peer support, not clinical care

The Keystone Mental Wellness Project ("KMWP," "we," "us," or "our") shares mental wellness education, runs presentations and workshops, and helps students find resources. All of this is offered for general information and support. It is not medical advice, mental health treatment, diagnosis, therapy, or counseling, and it is not a substitute for care from a qualified professional.

Reading our content, attending a workshop, or contacting us does not create a treatment relationship. Always seek the advice of a licensed physician, psychologist, therapist, or other qualified provider with any questions you have about your health or a medical condition. Never disregard professional advice, or delay seeking it, because of something you read or heard from KMWP.

We are not a crisis or clinical service

KMWP does not provide emergency response, crisis intervention, counseling, or treatment of any kind. Our inboxes and forms are not monitored around the clock, so please do not use them to reach us in an emergency. If you or someone you know is in crisis or in immediate danger, get help now:

  • Call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline (free, confidential, available around the clock).
  • Text HOME to 741741 for the Crisis Text Line.
  • Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room if there is immediate danger.

You can find these and more on our Get Help page.

About our advisors and credentials

KMWP works alongside professional advisors, which may include psychologists, physicians, and educators. When we list a person's role or credentials, we do so to be transparent about the experience behind our project.

Listing a professional's credentials does not create a clinician and patient, or provider and client, relationship between that professional and you, the visitor. Our advisors guide the project. They are not providing individual care, diagnosis, or treatment to site visitors, and contacting KMWP does not place you under the care of any advisor. To establish care, you will need to connect directly with a licensed provider of your own.

Voluntary participation and assumption of risk

Taking part in any KMWP program, presentation, workshop, peer support activity, or event is voluntary. Mental health topics can be sensitive, and people respond to them differently. You are responsible for deciding what is right for you, and for seeking professional care when you need it. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you understand and accept the ordinary risks of participating, and you agree that KMWP and its founders, team members, volunteers, and advisors are not responsible for any outcome that results from your use of our information or your participation in our activities. If you are a parent or guardian, this applies to the minor on whose behalf you are agreeing.

Accuracy and outside resources

We work to keep our information helpful and current, but we cannot guarantee that it is complete, accurate, or right for your specific circumstances. We also link to outside organizations and crisis lines as a convenience to help you find support quickly. We do not control those services and are not responsible for their content, but we encourage you to use them whenever you need help. See our Terms of Use for more on third party links.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KMWP and its founders, team members, volunteers, advisors, and partners are not liable for any loss, injury, or harm arising from your use of, or reliance on, this site, its content, or our programs. This Disclaimer works together with the disclaimer of warranties and the limitation of liability in our Terms of Use, which also apply to your use of the site.
